Umbria is the green heart of Italy, crossed by the upper middle valley of the Tiber River.This region of ancient origins that gives the visitors a sense of peace and internal well being. Orvieto is an etruscan town built on 350m high tufa rocks and has been having great importance since medieval times. It represents an extraordinary artistic and cultural centre, rich of monuments and places to visit (the famous gothic Duomo, the Etruscan Necropolis, the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, S.Patrizio’s well, museums, churches, underground tours). Geographically it is situated in a central position, corner between the three regions Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany, and is therefore perfect to easily start a wide range of interesting tours to ancient villages, archeological sites, wine factories, ceramic and wood handicraft shops, and to enjoy the excellent local food in the centre and in the wonderful surrounding country. Orvieto is therefore a charming place to spend a phantastic holiday in a perfect harmony, with culture, history and nature.
